We use the Code Zero as an accelerator up to 10 knots TWS (True Wind Speed) on upwind courses. Nevertheless, we sail calmly and relaxed.
Only the tail wave reveals the speed beyond the usual values.
LIGHT WIND SAILING
FROM 2-3 KNOTS OF WIND IT STARTS!
2-6 knots of wind (1-2 Bft) and glassy water allow you to sail faster than the wind. We've been turning off the engine here for a long time.
With Code Zero and gennaker, our trimarans go as fast in light winds as typical motorized charter boats.
